The One K helmet you've come to love with integrated MIPS technology for young riders. MIPS is intended to add protection against rotational impacts to the head that could result from riding accidents at high speeds.
A helmet is only safe if it fits correctly. It is always better to be fit by a professional than it is to purchase a helmet on line.
One K Size | Helmet Size | Head Circumference (cm) |
---|---|---|
X-Small | 5 7/8 - 6 | 47 cm - 48 cm |
Small | 6 1/8 - 6 1/4 | 49cm - 50cm |
Medium | 6 3/8 - 6 1/4 | 51cm - 52cm |
We're riders ourselves, so we understand that finding the right helmet is not always easy. We would be happy to help you, please call or email us with any questions; we are your friendly neighborhood tack shop online.
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) was founded in 1996 by a neurosurgeon and a researcher from the Royal Institute of Technology, both located in Stockholm, Sweden. MIPS is designed to add protection against rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head.
Rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces from angular acceleration that both affect the brain and increase the risk for minor and severe brain injuries. MIPS’ added protection system has been proven to reduce rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by redirecting energies and forces otherwise transmitted to the brain.
One K has embraced MIPS technology in their helmets. The adoption of MIPS provides further protection to reduce brain shear in riding accidents involving falls at speed.
