Made For Athletes
As fall weather settles in, it’s time to stash the t-shirts and shorts and fill your closet with warmer, comfier clothing. For equestrian riders, though, finding cozy, stylish and functional pieces that you can wear both in and out of the saddle isn’t always easy. Most equestrians wear athletic attire that’s more suited to running or a yoga class than the wear and tear that comes with the equestrian lifestyle. This gap in the equestrian fashion market was something that then-17-year-old Kaelyn Kennedy, a long-time equestrian rider, noticed and wanted to fill. So, in 2017, she founded TKEQ, which offers a range of equestrian outerwear, athletic pieces, accessories and sweaters, like the new-for-fall/winter 2022 Knit Sweater ($115). The oversized design features cuffed sleeves and extra length in the body for maximum comfort and flexibility, whether you’re competing, out for a leisurely ride or not around the stables at all.
The equestrian silhouette – breeches, tall boots, crisp tailoring – have been synonymous with high fashion for hundreds of years. The house of Gucci, Hermes, and others either began their foray into fashion through the horse world or were inspired by it. But when it comes to equestrians designing for equestrians, the new guard has arrived, and one of the stars for Generation Z is Canadian Kaelyn Kennedy, who launched TKEQ in 2017. TKEQ has certainly become the blueprint for equestrian athletics’ brands, and we were fortunate to be one of the first and because of that we have influenced the entire trend by focusing on schooling tops made for equestrians and their unique athletic needs. Our innovation, sustainability and global representation have put TKEQ in a league of its own.

It's been thirty years since we opened the store. During that time, The Horse Connection has become the place where trainers send their clients: they trust that their riders will return with the correct product.
The Horse Connection staff are all knowledgeable riders, and are trained to fully understand the pros and cons of each product we sell. We never take a “one size fits all” approach, but match the product with our customer’s needs and budget. We are able to do this because we have the interest, and take the time, to learn about our customer and her horse. This is what sets us apart from competitors.
Once we’ve sold you something, we’d appreciate knowing if it was good, great, or occasionally, not so good. Not only does that enable us to make “not so good” right for you, but it helps us get better… we’re always learning, and the experiences of our customers add to our own experiences with our products. The result: we know which products to trust best for ourselves, our horses, and our customers… and those are the only products we’ll sell to you.
We urge you to compare! We’ve worked hard to earn the trust of trainers and customers alike and to sustain fair prices. Although we’re a small business, we’re competitive with the prices of the big guys. When you compare our prices with theirs, you’ll find that some items might be a tad higher, but other items will be a little lower!
We have answers!
